Flossie’s Fridays: Week 32

Flossie was thrilled to visit the Palmer-Marsh House with 3rd graders from Christ Covenant School from Greenville, NC.  Since the house is over 260 years old, Flossie likes to imagine what life was like for people (and fairies!) back when the house was brand new.

She and the students were very attentive during their visit this past Wednesday, which was a beautiful day.  We talked about how the only heating source for the house was by fireplace and the only way to cool it was with opening the windows and doors to get the cross breeze – you may already know this fact because it was mentioned in Week 30 when we were learning about hurricane lamps.

The students liked the differences they found in utensils and playing cards from the way they look today.  We will take a look at those items over the next couple of weeks.

If you are a student, parent or teacher at Christ Covenant School, we invite you to post pictures of the children enjoying their visit to Historic Bath by tagging us on Twitter @HistBathSiteNC using #BathNCFieldTrip or on Facebook (again tagging us as @Historic Bath Site and using #BathNCFieldTrip).
